I tried plantains for the first time at a Salvadorian restaurant in DC, it is nice to know how to cook them.
Just looking to the picture i am super drooling.
Wow, they look perfect - charred at the edges, caramelized too!
Oooh, yum! Will have to look around for some plantains one day. :)

Oh how I adore fried plantains. I am so saving this link, Cynthia. I can't wait to try it. I'll look over ever detail of the instructions when I'm ready to give it a go!
Thanks for sharing...
P.S. Cynthia, your words were a soothing reminder of how truly compassionate blogging friends can be, thank you so much.
Beautiful!! My sister and her husband just made me the most amazing patacones (with green plantains obviously). They topped them with guacamole and salsa as a snack to have with drinks before dinner. It was amazing. We have so much catching up to do, I know. I will get in touch properly asap. I think of you all the time - just having a rather "bumpy" summer. But I love my cinnamon!!! I'm working on a post about it : )
Much love xo A
¡Hola Cynthia!
I must confess that I do not like raw banana...but cannot resist fried bananas...yours look gorgeous...delicious.
Hope you are having a fantastic week Cynthia :-)
Like Kalyn I've never had plantains. I really need to try them. Your pictures are just amazing!
I want to reach into that picture and grab those plantains and eat them all! They look absolutely luscious. The other information is so useful too. I'm going to keep it handy.
Love your photos. We like to cube our plantains and saute them with a pinch of brown sugar (if the plantains are a little green)smoked paprika and sea salt.
The pics look yummy.. I too make fried plaintains but in a different way... I may post the recipe on my blog if I get my hands on some good ones.
By the way this is Cinnamon, now back with new name :-)
I hope u remember.
This is one of my favorites...and it's so frugal, too. Hope you're well, Cynthia. Congrats on the cookbook! I will have to order it.
